![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ][Terry][ //"You kicked me," he managed to gasp out, knowing that he was concentrating on the least significant part.// Terry ignored him and continued running as fast as he possibly could to get away from the shadow. He could feel its presence crawling frigidly through his veins, just waiting for them to slow down. //"I can't believe you kicked me."// He gritted his teeth and wondered what possessed him to stick around when Aaron saw him. /Why the hell is he concentrating on that anyway?! Less talk, more running!/ Finally, he caught sight of a familiar room number and silently thanked whoever it was that assigned rooms for giving Aaron an entirely empty one. He hit the door with a muffled bang and opened it in one smooth motion, dragging the blond inside at the same time. Closing it as quickly as he could with the least amount of noise, Terry finally let out the breath he'd been holding but didn't relax. They weren't out of the woods yet. And if the boy would just be quiet maybe he could finally concentrate!! 02:39 p.m.@Thursday, June 17, 2004
//We need to GO!// Aaron gaped. /He wants us to leave her!?/ But that...she could be... /Is he really that cruel?/ He looked back at the nurse uncertainly, who by now looked about ready to drag him back to his room herself. /Maybe if I start screaming, or yelling, or do something, she'll chase me and get us both away fro--/ A bolt of pain jolted him from his thoughts; Terry took advantage of his shock by yanking him forward and half-dragging him down the hall. Stunned, Aaron could only look at the other boy as he was was pulled along in his wake. "You kicked me," he managed to gasp out, knowing that he was concentrating on the least significant part. "I can't believe you kicked me." 06:24 p.m.@Wednesday, June 16, 2004
//"Terry, what--?"// The ghost boy ignored the half-question and pulled at the arm in his grasp. They had no time for an interrogation right now! "I'll tell you when we get away from here!" he half-shouted, trying to get the taller male to just move. Unfortunately, the nurse decided to interrupt him. //"Who are you talking to?" a voice exclaimed irritatedly.// Aaron turned back to the nurse they had forgotten about but couldn't give her a coherent answer. The blond teen looked imploringly at Terry, practically screaming for help. The black haired boy gritted his teeth in frustration. Terry glanced at the woman who was getting increasingly irritated with Aaron by the second. If they didn't get away from here soon, she was liable to call for orderlies and escort the other boy into the mental ward and that would not be good. But the other teen persisted in trying to 'save' the woman! //"But we can't--the nurse, she'll be...we can't," he stammered out, then raised his head stubbornly, "We can't leave her."// "Forget her! It won't touch the nurse! We need to GO!" Terry gave the dancing shadow a fearful glance. It hadn't moved since it attempted to tackle Aaron, but they couldn't count on luck nor logic to help them out of the mess. The shadows were unpredictable creatures and talking at it wouldn't help a whit. /Sometimes, I really want to know what makes me want to play hero and happily strangle it to death./ Glaring at the immovable lump he made friends with just that night, he kicked at the boy's shin, viscerally satisfied at the yelp it induced and finally managed to drag the guy down the hall at a sprint. Good thing too, the shadow had started to move again. 05:36 p.m.@Wednesday, June 16, 2004
He had only a second to realize it was him, it was Terry, he was here, before the other boy launched himself at Aaron, knocking them both to the ground. /What...?/ He was pulled to his feet, mind whirling in confusion, adrenaline pumping through his veins. "Terry, what--?" His eyes widened as he took in the mist-creature over Terry's shoulder. /Terry had...I was almost..."/ Aaron paled. The thing had almost gotten him...if it weren't for Terry, Aaron would...he could have... "Who are you talking to?" a voice exclaimed irritatedly, startling Aaron. He had almost forgotten the nurse was there, with all that had happened in the last few seconds. "I..." Aaron started, feeling a bit lost. His mind was spinning, he couldn't think; in a situation he never dreamed he'd ever be in, not in his worse nightmares, he was completely out of his league. He stared at Terry with wide eyes, half-begging the other boy to take over somehow. And then Terry was pulling him back, away from the nurse and the malevolent creature that was chasing them. Aaron dug his feet in, stopping the other from dragging him away. "But we can't--the nurse, she'll be...we can't," he stammered out, then raised his head stubbornly, "We can't leave her." 04:52 p.m.@Tuesday, June 15, 2004
He tentatively stuck his head through the door despite warning bells clamoring for him to stay put. There were two figures in the hall, a female nurse and a male patient. The male practically leaked fear into the air. And in the brightly lit hallway, it was easy to recognize the shock of blond hair. What the hell was Aaron doing out of his room?! A disembodied voice broke through his shock and derailed his train of thought. //"The little star has found a companion to dance with!"// Terry froze, eyes as wide as saucers. He'd forgotten about the shadow. He saw Aaron tremble faintly at the statement and slowly turn around. Blue eyes met frightened green eyes just as he caught a sign of movement from their dangerous observer. //"Terry!?"// The long-haired ghost came fully out of the room he had been ensconced in for the past half-hour and launched himself at the surprised boy, missing the moving shadow by a hairs breadth. Terry pulled them both up, strength fueled by terror, and tried to lead the blond away only to be held back. It was just not his day. /I'm not suited for the role of hero, dammit!/ 03:41 p.m.@Tuesday, June 15, 2004
The thing was coming closer, and there was nothing Aaron could do about it. He had to run /Go! Go!/ but he couldn't leave the nurse behind, /Run! Now!/ not if he ever wanted to live with himself again. /But will I live if I stay?/ He laughed wildly, sounding half-mad even to himself. The nurse apparently had enough. Giving him a stern, no-nonsense look, she stated, "I suggest you go to your room right now." "But--" "Now." "I--" He stopped himself at the look in her eye. She wasn't taking no for an answer, not at all. But...Aaron glanced down the hall towards his room, to where the creature was lying in wait, beginning to form once more. Dancing, dancing, shifting in and out of the light of the hall, coming closer with every second that passed. Suddenly it stilled, glowing eyes shifting over his shoulder with a look of strange delight. "The little star has found a companion to dance with!" Aaron closed his eyes, a sinking feeling coming over him. /Another one?/ he thought weakly, knees beginning to knock together in his fear. /Oh god oh god oh god/ He gathered up his courage and slowly turned around, barely noticing the looks the nurse was giving him. /Oh god oh god/ He steeled himself to open his eyes, afraid of what he'd see. /Oh god/ He opened his eyes, unaware of the chant falling from his lips. "Oh god, oh g--" He stilled. "Terry!?" 02:46 p.m.@Tuesday, June 15, 2004
There was a sudden unexpected commotion out in the hallway that managed to pierce through the fogginess in his head. //"Help! Somebody, hel--"// Terry sat stock-still as a spike of recognition went through him. A female voice, possibly a nurse, spoke in a clearly irritated voice. The words were spoken too quietly for him to make it out but it didn't matter. What was on the forefront of his mind was the foreboding ice-cold burn that interjected itself into his veins without warning. And it was getting closer by the moment. /Fuck!/ He scrambled to his feet, 'heart' racing frantically and prepared himself for a most foolhardy stunt--rescue. The shadows have come out to play and Terry had no intention to join them. 10:12 a.m.@Tuesday, June 15, 2004
Aaron ran faster than he ever had in his life, past his room and past his hall and past any part of the hospital he had ever been in his brief stay there. He just ran, not looking, not thinking of anything but getting away. He ran without looking back, somehow knowing the..the thing was still behind him. Still chasing him. "Help!" he yelled again, hoping someone would hear and be able to do something--anything. He turned the corner so close he hit the wall, and winced at the flare of pain in his side. "Somebody, hel--" His words were cut off as he hit another wall, a person shaped wall that turned out to not be a wall at all, but an actual person. A nurse shaped person. //Thank God// The accident sent them both crashing to the floor in a heap of flailing limbs, both momentarily stunned, until the knowing feeling got closer, causing Aaron to leap to his feet. "Hurry!" he shouted, dragging the glaring nurse to her feet. She yanked out of his grasp, scowling all the while. "What the--what in God's name are you doing out of bed?" Aaron ignored her, and gave a hunted look over his shoulder. He could see nothing there, but the bad feeling...it was getting stronger. He shot a quick look at the nurse, before making a decision. There was no time to explain. He grabbed the nurse by the elbow, trying to run and drag her behind him at the same time, something made significantly more difficult by the way she was struggling. The nurse yanked herself out of his grip once more, glowering threatheningly at him. "This is not a zoo, young man," she said cooly, "And you will not lay another hand on me. Aaron looked at her desperately. He couldn't, couldn't leave her behind. She could be hurt or, dead, or...or..or some other or that he was too panicked to think about. "You..." he started, then paused. /What could he say?/ "We've got to--" A lilting voice came from behind him, interrupting his explanation. "One, two, I see you! He whirled around, searching the corridor, but could see nothing. "Do you se...did you hear that?" he asked the nurse anxiously. "Where did it come from?" The nurse, though obviously still annoyed, showed no sign of having heard anything out of the ordinary. "I..." he took a few steps closer to the nurse, shaking slightly, "I thought I heard something?" He was no longer sure of anything at all...was he hearing things? Seeing things? Imagining it all? "Bad little boy, deserves to be spanked..." He whirled around and jumped back at the same time, bumping into the nurse for the second time this evening. It was the voice again, that phrase again, but where was it coming from? He couldn't see. "But you're a shiny star..." Aaron was shaking, feeling like a young child again, desperately wanting to climb into his parent's bed, wanting to be held tight and told it was alright and that there wasn't anything there, nothing at all. "...and mama says that I should eat all my shiny stars or else I'll get no pretty dress to wear to the ball..." But his mother wasn't here and his father hadn't been in a long time and nothing was ever going to be right again. //Terry...// 09:59 p.m.@Monday, June 14, 2004
"...Terry?" Aaron squeaked out, hoping desperately that it was the other boy and not whatever it was that was causing the very bad feeling to slip down his spine. The thing he knew was there, though he didn't know what it was, or why he was so scared or even why he badly wanted to leave as quickly as he could and pretend that all this was just a very bad dream. "Terry?" he called, breath coming quickly, "Is that...is that you?" //Please let that be Terry, please god let that be Terry.// He walked towards the whatever-it-was slowly, uncertainty in every step. He could only just make out what it was there, what was forming in front of him, mist and and vapor solidifying into form and shape; human, yet otherwordly. It wasn't Terry. "A little star has lost it's way..." Aaron stilled. The voice...it came from no where and every where, all at once. It hummed in the air and vibrated in his head and he never, never wanted to feel anything like it again, not as long as he lived. And Aaron knew, just somehow knew it was coming from the shadow-and-mist creature ahead of him and it was Not Good. Slowly, before his eyes, shadow-and-mist congealed into something vaguely resembling a human--eyes without head, seeming to glow in the shade of its body, teeth without mouth or jaw, white-sharp in the night. He wanted to run. Little boys should go to bed at this hour," it sang, "But you've been a bad boy, haven't you?" It stepped closer to him in a mockery of a dance, flowing and twirling and fading in the harsh light of the hall. Something felt wrong with his eyes, with his mind; he felt like he was seeing the impossible for the first time, and turning to everyone like, "Look? See?" only to find no one particularly shocked or amazed. He wanted to hide. "And bad little boys deserved to be spanked." Aaron squeaked--there was no other word for it. He stumbled backwards, nearly falling, body finally getting the message his mind was sending, //Run! Run!// as he whirled around and ran for his life. "H-Help! Help!" he managed to yell, running as fast as he could. He wanted Terry. 04:59 p.m.@Monday, June 14, 2004
He went through numerous walls, running blindly and letting instinct guide him before logic hit him over the head with a mallet. /You idiot! You're lucky you didn't run into anything!/ Terry looked around warily to see that somehow, his 'body' had decided to run to his 'safe haven'. Of course, it was really only safe when those stupid things weren't around. Terry wedged himself into the corner of the small room and dragged the blankets over his head, shivering slightly. He really was an idiot... 07:40 p.m.@Tuesday, January 27, 2004
Dead. Terry was....dead? Aaron looked at the empty room blankly, unable to piece together what just happened. Dead. As in not living, not breathing, not having a heart that beat or skipped or suddenly stopped because the person had just been given the shock of their lifetime and didn't quite know how to deal. So. Dead. Alright then. So Terry was dead. That's not so ba...hey! Aaron blinked in sudden realization, a brilliant smile coming over his face. Terry was dead!! Aaron beamed, doing a small dance even as his side protested. Terry's dead! Terry's dead! he sang over and over in his head. This was great! Not that Terry was dead, of course--that was a shame, an awful shame, but. Terry was dead and didn't just think that Aaron was a complete loser, or... Terry was dead! Terry was....not here. Aaron slid out of bed, taking care not to trip over his slippers. Yanking open the door, Aaron looked both ways, trying to figure out which way Terry could have gone. "Terry," he called in a loud whisper, hoping the other boy would hear and come back. He spotted something out of the corner of his eye and made for it. "Terry?" he said uncertainly, suddenly feeling very uneasy. "Is that...is that you?" It felt...it felt like there were spiders crawling up and down his spine and wiggling through his ears and burrowing into his skull, but also like he was being frozen from the inside; his blood slowed and stopped and left him shivering with a chill that no amount of clothes or blankets would help. 12:09 a.m.@Tuesday, January 27, 2004
"I was the stupid one who barged into your room," he murmured in a shaky voice, scuffing his feet. Terry looked up, heart contracting painfully at the tone. He just met the guy for heaven's sake! It shouldn't hurt this much. /Aa, but you haven't talked to another person your age for quite a while have you./ For once, the voice was kind but he ignored it and trudged on. He should have known it couldn't have lasted beyond a day. Terry gave the other boy a wobbly smile that went unseen. He backed up to the wall, keeping his eyes on the prone form. "After all, being friends with a dead person is entirely pointless right?" At that, he took the necessary step back to pass into the next room. 11:14 p.m.@Monday, January 26, 2004
For a moment the words echoed through Aaron's ears, reminding him of every single time he thought he had finally made a friend, only to find out how mistaken he was when they realized he couldn't hang out after school or go to so and so's party next friday. Sorry I got your hopes up, Aaron. Yeah. Me too. Unconsciously, he pulled pulled his arms up to hug himself tightly. "Yeah," he stated flatly, "Guess I was pretty stupid, huh?" 10:47 p.m.@Monday, January 26, 2004
He looked away, cringing a bit. "You know, having someone to talk to," Terry said quietly. God he sounded like a pompous ass. Someone just shoot him now. /Wouldn't quite work if you remember a certain little fact you're trying to hide./ Some days, it just wasn't worth leaving his safe haven... 10:25 p.m.@Monday, January 26, 2004
"My hopes?" Aaron asked in disbelief. /My hopes?/ Aaron frowned, confused. /What does he mean my hopes? About... Aaron blanched, then took a closer look at Terry. He didn't look accusing--looked, in fact, upset. So...maybe Aaron was...wrong? Carefully, Aaron asked, "What hopes are you talking about?" 09:32 p.m.@Monday, January 26, 2004

The world is full of natural energy but there are certain places in which it clings together, forming a well called an energy node. And there are also places where bad things happen and they tend to leave a mark [ie: haunted houses]. Ghosts and spirits are born there, and all of them are full of rage. So what happens when these two happen in the same place? You get strong ghosts, strong ghosts that are pissed and vengeful. What would happen if someone built a hospital there? Anyone who dies there are grabbed. Children, old people, it doesn't matter. These spirits don't care. Every spirit they grab gets thrown into the well of energy to be used up and destroyed, making them even stronger. Eventually, they're able to affect people, the ones who aren't dead. Those in the mental ward become worse, their minds warped by the natural discord around them. The people who stay overnight, they have fitful dreams, full of horror and pain and hatred. But they can still get away, it's the people who are there for a long time that are screwed up and just plain screwed. Most have no clue what is going on, they only know that they're afraid and feel the need to get out. Some try to stop sleeping, fearing what lies within their dreams. Eventually, if they go without sleep for so long that they're forced into drugs which is just what the ghosts want. Drugged sleep makes you easier to control. They can slip things and ideas into your mind. Kids, psychics and mental patients, they're the ones who know the most about what's going on but ironically, they're the ones no one ever believes. And the ones that are easiest to control. RULES 1. Stay in character! No outside comments within the actual entry please? ^_^;; For the sake of clarity. You can do all of that in the comment box. 2.
